About SPSync

SPSync is a read-only replication tool that copies SharePoint Online lists and document library metadata into SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and 28 other databases, warehouses and search stores, and keeps them in sync with incremental delta queries. It is made and sold by EBORACUM IT LTD, a private limited company based in London.

Why SPSync exists

Many organisations on Microsoft 365 keep working data in SharePoint lists: requests, assets, approvals, project trackers. Lists are good for the people typing into them and slow for anything that needs to query a lot of rows at once. A Power BI refresh that reads a big list item by item can time out, and a report that joins three lists has to be stitched together by hand.

We built SPSync so the tools that already speak SQL can use that data directly. It copies the lists and library metadata you pick into a database you run, on a schedule, and keeps the copy current. SharePoint stays where people work, and the database is where reports and AI agents read.

How SPSync is built and tested

Most of the testing runs against a fake Microsoft Graph server, whose responses are checked against ones recorded from a real tenant. When we find a new Graph behaviour, such as a throttling response or a column that arrives in a different shape from the one documented, it becomes a scenario on that fake server and a test before the fix is written. The sync pipeline is then tested end to end into real database engines running in containers.

Every night the same suite runs against a real Microsoft 365 development tenant with seeded lists, so a change in how SharePoint Online answers shows up the next morning. On 18 September 2026 a desktop run against that tenant read 10,303 items across four lists, one of them past the 5,000-item list view threshold, and finished its full load into SQL Server in 1m 52s. Against the fake Graph, the sync engine has read a 1,000,000-item list in full in 112 s in its slowest measured run, with no database write in that measurement. The SharePoint to SQL Server page sets out how each figure was measured, and the security page covers permissions and where your data goes.
